Ballybunnion Old Course
We were all expecting to miss
the opportunity to play the Old course
since Yo Daddy was not able to secure tee times. But a last minute
email message (sent after we left for Ireland) informed us that we would
indeed get to play the course. So it was quite a surprise for all
of us when we arrived to be hustled immediately off to the first tee
The first hole is
such an odd one. There is the old graveyard with two
hundred year old Celtic grave stones followed along the fairway by a
trailer park. And since it was a village right-of-way, old men with dogs
seemed to be constantly coming and going through the fairway.
Playing the Old
course might have been a mixed blessing since
we were watched over incessantly by course rangers moving
us along. This tainted an otherwise wonderful golf experience for
many of the players.
