	Each room of the palaces has areas of colored tile in fabulous, complex designs and colors, with intricately carved plaster above. All of it looks exhaustingly  labor-intensive, yet the overall effect is one of serenity. We were amazed at how much has been preserved over the centuries, and saddened at how much has been lost.
